We Americans are too good not to be able to do two things at the same time: Have a vibrant economy and way of life, while preserving our natural world—our land, our water, our air, and all flora and fauna, both large and small. There are practical as well as ethical reasons for doing the latter. But at the highest level, conservation and preservation are deeply linked to our spiritual calling and duty: To protect and preserve creation, and responsibly convey it, unharmed, to the generations that will follow us.
