Jeanne graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She specialized in critical care nursing and worked in Maine, Virginia, and Florida before devoting her time to raising her two sons. She has lived in Georgia for the past 23 years and spends several weeks each summer at her lakeside camp in Maine. She attends weekly Bible study class, trains regularly at her local health club, and tries to eat organic fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle
As an ICU Nurse I saw the serious effects and suffering on the human body of many illnesses and accidents. Often I would conclude that preventing the illness in the first place would have been far superior, prevented suffering and been much less costly then treating it once it had developed. Prevention of health problems, whenever possible, became my personal philosophy. As a wife and mother, I worry about the health consequences of pesticide use in our food supply. The line between illness and its cause is not always clear and prevention is not an exact science. I support measures to use organic and natural methods of pest control as a preventative health measure whenever possible.”
“As a Christian woman I believe we have a God given responsibility to take care of our environment and all the other living creatures that inhabit it. It is our moral and ethical obligation to see to it that no species suffers the effects of chemicals used. I support research, monitoring, education and re-evaluation of pesticides used in our environment and food supply. I support the development of safe, natural, and organic methods for use and the discontinuation of any chemical that is harmful or threatens any endangered or threatened species. This is our human responsibility.”
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of the Earth.”
